“Libyan Central Bank”: $ 6 Billion Deficit in the Balance of Payments

The Central Bank of Libya (CBL) disclosed in a detailed statement revenues and expenditures from January 1 to November 30, 2024, as part of its efforts to enhance transparency and disclosure. The data showed total revenues of 86.3 billion Libyan dinars (exchange rate of 4.8 dinars to the dollar), while total public expenditure amounted to 84.6 billion dinars. It also recorded a balance of payments deficit of $6.1 billion as of the end of November 2024, resulting from a decrease in foreign exchange revenues of $ 17.1 billion compared to $ 22.3 billion in the same period last year.

Foreign exchange uses were $23.2 billion, down from $24.2 billion last year. The data also showed a sharp decline in the local market's revenues from oil derivatives, which did not exceed 61.6 million dinars during this period.
