Canada's trade deficit narrowed to C$506 million (about $366.34 million) in March, beating expectations as imports fell faster than exports.
Imports of goods fell 1.5 percent in March, as imports from the United States fell 2.9 percent after Canada imposed retaliatory tariffs in response to President Donald Trump's imposition of 25 percent tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum. Exports to the United States fell 6.6 percent, but the decline was partially offset by an increase in exports to the rest of the world, according to Statistics Canada.
