During his visit to the Libyan capital, Tripoli, to participate in the work of the Fourth Libyan-German Forum, the Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Chambers met with Libyan Minister of Economy Mohamed Al-Hawij, in the presence of the President of the Union of Libyan Chambers, Mohamed Al-Raed, and the Secretary-General of the Arab-Austrian Chamber of Commerce, Mouddar Khouja. The meeting focused on strengthening trilateral economic cooperation between Libya, Arab countries, and Europe.
Minister Al-Hawij welcomed the delegation, stressing that "Libya is a promising country and needs investments in various fields, and is a cheap country in production, enjoys a strategic location, and has sea ports overlooking Africa, Europe and the rest of the world, and therefore the stage is available today for businessmen and investors to come to Libya and invest in it."
During the meeting, the Secretary-General of the Union, Dr. Khaled Hanafy, explained, “The convening of the fourth Libyan-German Economic Forum, organized by the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Libya, the Union of Arab Chambers, and the Arab-German Chamber, with the attendance of Arab and foreign delegations. Refutes all allegations about the security situation and confirms that Libya is safe, that there is economic freedom, and demonstrates that there is Libyan openness to the world, and that Libya is a destination for Arab, European, and foreign investment. This is what we witnessed on the ground during this visit, compared to the previous visit when Libya hosted the Arab Businessmen and Investors Conference in 2021.”
Dr. Khaled Hanafy stressed, "There is development and openness in Libya, and therefore this progress must be exploited not only to promote trade or investment between Libya and the outside world, but for a broader reality that includes attracting advanced technology, promoting the digital economy and investing in the Fourth Industrial Revolution sector."
He noted, "The Union of Arab Chambers will do its best, and we will cooperate with the Union of Libyan Chambers in order to achieve the desired hopes, in the interest of Libya for growth, progress, and prosperity."
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Arab-Austrian Chamber, Mouddar Khouja stressed that Libya is a major economic partner for Austria. He highlighted the potential for enhancing cooperation between the Libyan and Austrian sides. He extended an invitation to the Libyan Minister of Economy to visit Austria for further cooperation and dialogue.
