The U.S. trade deficit widened to a record high in March, jumping 14 percent to $140.5 billion, compared to $123.2 billion in February after the adjustment.
Reuters had expected the trade deficit to widen to $137 billion, compared to $122.7 billion in February.
U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs, including a 145 percent hike in tariffs on Chinese imports, have caused companies to ramp up imports of goods to avoid additional costs.
