Job opportunities in the US fell in July to a three-and-a-half-year low. However, the decline may not be enough to get the Federal Reserveto consider a major rate cut this month.

According to the monthly Labor Ministry report, job opportunities fell by 237,000 to 7.673 million on the last day of July, the lowest level since January 2021. The June data was revised downwards to 7.910 million jobs from 8.184 million. Job vacancies fell from a record high of 12.182 million in March 2022.
