Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin revealed that the country's GDP during the first five months of this year rose by 5 percent, "which is much higher than expected."

At a meeting on economic issues, Mishustin noted that "we will discuss the current situation in the economy, where dynamics remain high."

He noted that "in May, growth accelerated slightly compared to April, to 4.5 percent, and if we take into account statistics for five months, the gross domestic product increased by 5 percent compared to the same previous period." The Russian Federal Customs revealed that over two years of sanctions, importers from unfriendly countries lost about 21 trillion rubles ($256.5 billion) due to their failure to obtain Russian goods.
