The International Air Transport Association (IATA) revealed that total demand for air travel increased by 10.7 percent in May (May) this year, compared to the same month last year. Total capacity increased by 8.5 percent, year-on-year.
According to IATA, demand for international flights increased by 14.6 percent compared to May 2023, while capacity increased by 14.1 percent year-on-year. Demand for domestic flights increased by 4.7 percent compared to the same period last year, and capacity increased by 0.1 percent. Airlines in the Middle East recorded a 9.7 percent year-on-year rise in travel demand, and capacity rose 9 percent year-on-year.
