The Omani government plans to issue government development bonds and local sovereign sukuk worth 750 million Omani riyals ($1.9 billion) during the current year 2025, in order to cover the expected budget deficit and public debt service.
The Omani government approved the budget for the fiscal year 2025, with expectations that the budget deficit will reach 620 million riyals ($1.6 billion), with total spending of 11.80 billion riyals, an increase of 1.3 percent over 2024. While revenues are expected to reach 11.18 billion riyals, an increase of 1.5 percent over those expected last year. As for government debt service, it is expected to reach 915 million Omani riyals, a decrease of 13 percent compared to the 2024 budget.
