The new Board of Directors of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce chose, by acclamation, the President of the Amman Chamber of Commerce, Khalil Al-Hajj Tawfiq, as the President of the Chamber, to succeed the former President of the Chamber, the President of the Aqaba Chamber, Nael Raja Al-Kabariti.
The Council also chose, during its first session held at the Chamber's headquarters, Jamal Al-Rifai as Vice-Chairman, Arab Al-Smadi as Secretary, and Hussein Shuraim as Treasurer. The board also chose Nabil Al-Khatib as first vice-chairman, Tariq Al-Tabbaa as second deputy, Bahjat Hamdan as secretary, Sultan Allan as deputy secretary, Khattab Al-Banna as treasurer, Maher Youssef as deputy treasurer, and Alaa El-Din Deiranieh and engineer Jamal Badran as members.
In his first comment on his election as president of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Haj Tawfiq stressed that "the current chamber's council will build on the achievements of the successive councils of the chamber since its establishment in 1923 and its contribution to the national economy and its support for the process of construction and development in the kingdom."
It is noteworthy that the Board of Directors of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce includes 30 members, who are the heads of the chambers of commerce in the Kingdom, and representatives of the ten commercial sectors, in addition to four members of the Board of Directors of the Amman Chamber of Commerce. Khalil Hajj Tawfiq, who headed the Amman Chamber of Commerce on behalf of the merchant bloc, won the elections for chambers of commerce and representatives of commercial sectors 2022.
It is noteworthy that the Jordan Chamber of Commerce was established under Temporary Law No. 70 of 2003 under the name "Chamber of Commerce Law" to assume the tasks that were previously performed by the Federation of Jordanian Chambers of Commerce, which was established in 1955, and the membership of its chambers of commerce is mandatory.
