Egypt Prepares the 2020-2021 Budget with an Aspiration to Sustain the Deficit Reduction

The Egyptian Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohamed Maait, pointed out that "the general budget for the fiscal year 2020-2021, which is currently being prepared in coordination with the relevant authorities, reflects the strong political will to improve the standard of living of citizens to achieve economic, social and human development."

He explained that "the political leadership seeks to benefit society in all its categories from the benefits of development, especially the first-caring and middle-class citizens, by focusing on offering many effective national initiatives that directly contribute to improving the services provided to citizens, similar to the successful presidential initiatives for health care, developing the poorest villages, and eliminating slums, which are still receiving international acclaim."

He said: "There is a presidential desire to sustain reducing the budget deficit, decreasing the debt size of the GDP, and raising the rates of economic growth, which maximizes the public revenues, and enables the state to increase the aspects of spending on human development with its health and education axes, as they are the main pillar of building the Egyptian human capital, and with them economic progress is achieved."
