The director of the Tunisian Tourism Office, Hilmi Hussein, revealed that the number of tourists who visited Tunisia in 2024 exceeded for the first time the barrier of 10 million tourists, achieving a new record. He explained that the tourism sector, which is one of the vital pillars of the Tunisian economy, achieved a growth of 9% compared to 2023.
According to the latest statistics as of December 20, the number of tourists reached 9 million and 860 thousand. Tourism revenues reached US$2.3 billion, an increase of 7.8% compared to the same period last year. The sector's revenues were boosted by foreign currency savings, with central bank data revealing currency savings of 25 billion Tunisian dinars ($8 billion), covering the cost of imports for 115 days.
