Britain's Inflation Slows To 3.4 Percent

Official figures showed Britain's inflation slowed lower than expected at 3.4 percent year-on-year in February from 4 percent in January. On a monthly basis, the headline consumer price index rose 0.6 percent, returning to positive territory after a -0.6 percent reading in January.

According to the Office for National Statistics, food and non-alcoholic beverage prices rose 5 percent year-on-year in February, slowing from 7 percent in January, the lowest annual rate since January 2022.

The rate fell for the eleventh consecutive month from a recent high of 19.2 percent in March 2023, the highest annual rate in more than 45 years.
