Kuwait is considering imposing a 15 percent tax on major Kuwaiti multinational companies, in implementation of the rules of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development rules impose taxes of at least 15 percent on large multinational companies, to prevent tax evasion and moving to countries with lower tax rates.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Commerce announced that the expected rate of taxes is 15 percent, denying the existence of “any international pressure” on Kuwait to impose them, and indicating that it does not intend to impose taxes on Kuwaiti citizens.
