Swiss reinsurance company Swiss Re revealed that global economic losses resulting from natural disasters fell by about one-third in 2025, reaching $220 billion, despite the wildfires in Los Angeles and the devastating storms that hit the United States.
According to the company, insured losses amounted to $107 billion, representing a year-on-year decline of 24.1 percent.
This decrease is attributed to a much less severe hurricane season in the North Atlantic compared with 2024, which witnessed destructive hurricanes Debbie, Helene, and Milton.
