Annual consumer inflation in China accelerated in November to its highest level in 21 months, driven mainly by food prices.
Data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed that the consumer price index rose by 0.7 percent from the previous year, after having increased by 0.2 percent in October.
Producer prices, meanwhile, recorded a decline amid indications that domestic demand remains weak and unlikely to recover in the near term.
The US$19-trillion economy is moving toward achieving Beijing’s target of nearly 5 percent growth this year, supported by policy backing and resilient goods exports.
