Statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information in the Sultanate of Oman showed that the country’s trade surplus reached around 9.24 billion dollars (3.555 billion Omani rials) by the end of July 2025. This represents a sharp decline of 34.6 percent compared to the same period in 2024, when the surplus stood at 14.123 billion dollars (5.432 billion Omani rials).

The data revealed that the drop in the surplus was mainly due to a decline in the total value of merchandise exports, despite the notable growth recorded in non-oil exports. The total value of merchandise exports reached 35.038 billion dollars (13.476 billion Omani rials) by the end of July 2025, down by 9.2 percent compared to the same period in 2024.

This decrease was primarily attributed to a 17 percent drop in oil and gas exports, which amounted to 22.313 billion dollars (8.582 billion Omani rials), compared to 26.894 billion dollars during the same period in 2024.
