Egyptian Expatriate Remittances Jump by 69.6 Percent

The Central Bank of Egypt revealed a significant surge in remittances from Egyptians working abroad during the fiscal year 2024/2025, recording an increase of 69.6 percent to reach approximately $32.8 billion, compared to about $19.4 billion during the same period of the previous fiscal year.

According to data released by the Central Bank, the period from January to May 2025 saw a year-on-year increase of 59 percent in remittances, reaching around $15.8 billion, compared to about $9.9 billion during the same five months of 2024.

Remittances in May 2025 rose by 24.2 percent year-on-year, amounting to about $3.4 billion, compared to approximately $2.7 billion in the previous April.
