The Chinese economy rebounded during the first two months of the year, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics.
Retail sales rose 4.0 percent from January to February compared to last year, surpassing the 3.7 percent growth recorded in December. Industrial production grew 5.9 percent during the first two months of the year compared to the same period last year, a slowdown from the 6.2 percent growth rate in December.
The report showed an acceleration in industrial production growth in the equipment and high-tech manufacturing sectors, recording annual increases of 10.6 percent and 9.1 percent, respectively.
