The Panama Canal Authority denied the US State Department's announcement that US government ships will be able to cross the canal without paying fees.

According to the Canal Authority, an independent agency overseen by the Panamanian government, it has made no changes to the imposition of fees or transit rights in response to US allegations.

The U.S. State Department has announced that U.S. government ships can now cross the Panama Canal without charge. The Panamanian government has agreed not to impose duties on U.S. government vessels to transit the Panama Canal, the ministry said. The agreement will save millions of dollars each year for the U.S. government.
