A World Bank report shows that the war in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, has caused an "unprecedented transformation in modern history" of the Palestinian economy devastated by Israeli attacks.
The report showed that the GDP of the Gaza Strip collapsed by 86 percent by the end of the first half of 2024, compared to the same period of the previous year. The gross domestic product of the occupied West Bank fell by 26 percent.
The World Bank noted that the ongoing conflict in the Middle East continues to catastrophically affect the Palestinian economy and push the Strip into an unprecedented crisis.
