Ghana's economy grew by 7.2 percent in the third quarter of 2024, another sign that the country is recovering from its worst economic crisis in a generation, according to data from the statistics agency.
The GDP report showed that annual growth in the third quarter was the highest since the second quarter of 2019. Second-quarter 2024 growth was also revised to 7 percent from 6.9 percent.
In terms of sectors, the industrial sector, led by mining and stone mining, recorded a growth of 10.4 percent, while the services sector grew by 6.4 percent, and the agriculture sector grew by 3.2 percent. However, Ghana's cocoa sector, the world's second-largest producer, recorded a 26 percent decline for the fifth consecutive quarter.
