The World Bank's Lebanon Economic Monitor predicted that real GDP growth in Lebanon will decline by about 6.6 percent in 2024 as a result of the conflict in the country, bringing the cumulative decline in GDP since 2019 to more than 38 percent by the end of the year.
The report, titled "Exacerbating Burdens on a Country in Crisis," showed that economic activity in Lebanon will contract by 5.7 percent in 2024, equivalent to an estimated loss of about $4.2 billion in consumption and net exports. GDP was expected to grow by 0.9 percent if the conflict ended.
