China announced the discovery of deposits of high-quality gold ore containing 1,000 tons of precious metal, estimated at 600 billion yuan, equivalent to 83 billion US dollars, making it perhaps the largest and richest gold stock ever found, surpassing the estimated 900-ton reserves at the South Deep mine in South Africa, known as one of the world's greatest gold deposits.
The Hunan Provincial Geological Authority announced the discovery of 40 gold races at a depth of up to two kilometers in Pingjiang Province in northeast Hunan, and these veins alone are believed to contain 300 tons of gold, while three-dimensional models indicate the possibility of additional reserves at a depth of up to 3 kilometers.
