The ILO has predicted a further decline in the global youth unemployment rate, which is at a 15-year low, and warned that job insecurity is causing "growing concern".

The organization warned of an alarming number of young people aged 15 to 24 who are not working, learning, or training, especially as post-pandemic employment has not recovered globally. The youth unemployment rate reached 13 percent in 2023, the lowest in 15 years and a decline from the 13.8 percent rate recorded in 2019, before the pandemic. The rate is expected to continue to decline to 12.8 percent in 2024 and 2025. The total number of unemployed youth stood at 64.9 million, the lowest figure since 2000.
