Three bodies representing businessmen and employers of the countries of Algeria, Tunisia and Libya called on the governments of the three countries to speed up the implementation of a plan to establish free trade areas, facilitate transport lines of goods and develop development in border areas within the framework of the Carthage process, which was agreed by the heads of the three countries last April.

The leadership bodies of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council, the Tunisian Union of Industry, Commerce and Handicrafts, and the General Union of Chambers of Industry, Commerce and Agriculture in Libya discussed, during a meeting held in Algeria, a plan to accelerate the establishment of free trade zones and the establishment of smart industrial zones in the common border areas, which will help develop the business climate in these areas and turn them into an attractive space for investment and the establishment of innovative joint projects.

The meeting called for "lifting all field and financial obstacles to encourage joint investment with the optimal use of the available logistical capabilities, in support of the flow of goods and products between the three countries, and seeking to unify field procedures to facilitate the flow of goods and facilitate environmental financial transactions while creating a unified economic data bank."
