The German government has reached an agreement on a 2025 budget and a stimulus package for Europe's largest economy, ending a months-long wrangling that threatened to undermine left-wing centrist Chancellor Olaf Scholz's coalition.

Scholz, a member of the Social Democrats, and the leaders of the Free Democratic Party and the Greens agreed on the budget early Friday after marathon talks.

The agreement on budget and medium-term fiscal planning until 2028 stipulates a commitment to rein in debt, allowing for spending a deficit of 0.35 percent of GDP.
