Saudi Central Bank's Reserve Assets Increased by 6 Percent

The Saudi Central Bank's (SAMA) total reserve assets in May this year increased by 6 percent year-on-year to 1.75 trillion riyals ($466 billion), compared to 1.65 trillion riyals ($440 billion) in the same period of the previous year. According to SAMA's monthly statistical bulletin, reserve assets increased month-on-month by 5 percent, reaching 1.66 trillion riyals ($442 billion) in April.

The value of financial investments abroad grew by 0.6 percent, compared to the same period of the previous year, to reach one trillion riyals ($ 266 billion) from 997.48 billion riyals ($ 265.8 billion), and fell slightly by 0.3 percent on a monthly basis. The IMF's reserve position decreased by 14 percent compared to May of the previous year, at 14.7 billion riyals ($4 billion), to 12.7 billion riyals ($3.4 billion).
