Cooperation Agreement between the ‘Union of Arab Chambers’ and the ‘Arab Planning Institute’ to Enhance Joint Cooperation

The Union of Arab Chambers, represented by its Secretary-General, Dr. Khaled Hanafi, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Arab Planning Institute, represented by its Director General, Dr. Abdullah Fahd Al-Shami, aimed at enhancing continuous and effective cooperation between the two parties in areas of common interest in accordance with the rules, regulations, and regulations in force in each of them and within the limits of the available financial and technical capabilities. It also aims to work together to carry out its tasks and to achieve the strategic objectives of the Union. The Secretary General of the Union noted that "under the memorandum, the two parties are working to strengthen joint cooperation between them in the fields of capacity building, training, consultations, studies, technical support, research, forums, and development events, and in the field of entrepreneurship, small and medium enterprises, business development services and any other areas of common interests."

Dr. Khaled Hanafi pointed to the importance of the cooperation agreement between the Union and the Institute," as the Union has contributed since its establishment to achieving Arab economic integration through cooperation with other economic blocs on a basis that guarantees the interests of all parties. Representing all economic sectors at the Arab, regional, and international levels from the perspective of business owners and adopting their positions on various economic issues and policies. Enhancing the role of member chambers and their federations as representatives of the business communities and the private sector in their countries and contributing to building the capacity of their human resources. Contributing to raising the efficiency and returns of development plans, programs, and efforts in Arab countries. Encouraging inter-Arab trade supporting the Greater Arab Free Trade Area in order to reach the Arab Common Market, exploring areas and opportunities for joint Arab investments, working to introduce and promote them and facilitate their implementation. Supporting entrepreneurship, empowering all young men and women, supporting and promoting entrepreneurs' self-initiatives, supporting official government efforts to eliminate unemployment, improving the standard of living, stimulating and encouraging the establishment of small and medium enterprises, and contributing to proposing policies and legislation that support these projects, and developing the relationship and cooperation between the Arab private sector, universities, scientific research centers, and institutions."

He praised the role played by the Arab Planning Institute, especially in terms of strengthening the frameworks of joint Arab development cooperation, supporting development efforts in the Arab countries, upgrading the level of workers in the public and private sectors, public benefit institutions in various fields of work, entrepreneurs and small and medium enterprises, and raising the efficiency of government institutions in the Arab countries. This is done through the provision of a variety of capacity-building services, training, advisory services, institutional support services in all its forms, publishing, and research services.

It should be noted that by virtue of the agreement signed between the two sides, the two parties will cooperate in the field of capacity building and training in order to raise the efficiency of the Union's employees and employees in various government agencies, through the participation of the Union's employees in the programs implemented by the Institute within its annual plan, according to the standards and systems followed in it. In addition to cooperating in the implementation of training programs and workshops for the benefit of the Union after agreeing on administrative and logistical matters.

The two parties will also cooperate in the field of advisory services, so that the topics and terms of reference are determined by agreement of the two parties, and the Institute will provide these services after agreeing on technical and financial matters and within the framework of its internal regulations, budget, and human capabilities. In addition to cooperation in the field of development forums, seminars, workshops, forums, conferences, and public lectures, by organizing development events in the field of development planning and various development issues, entrepreneurship and micro-projects Small and medium enterprises and any other areas and topics of interest to both parties.
