The International Air Transport Association (IATA) revealed that demand for air cargo rose for the fourth consecutive month. Global demand for air cargo increased by 8.3 percent year-on-year compared to November 2022, and for international operations, demand growth reached 8.1 percent.
Capacity measured in available freight tons per kilometer grew by 13.7 percent compared to November 2022 and by 11.6 percent for international operations. Most of the capacity growth is still attributed to the increase in belly capacity as international passenger markets continue to recover after the coronavirus.
Compared to November 2019 before Covid-19, air cargo demand fell by 2.5 percent while capacity increased by 4.1 percent.
