Jordan: Government Debt Rises to $57 Billion

The Jordanian Ministry of Finance revealed that the Kingdom's total debt reached about 40.48 billion dinars (about 57 billion dollars) by the end of last August, at 113.2 percent of GDP.

Jordan's government debt reached 31.7 billion dinars, or 88.7 percent of the Kingdom's GDP, compared to 30.667 billion dinars in 2022. The external debt stock ($ 25 billion), or 49.8 percent of GDP, while the internal debt stock after excluding what is held by the Social Security Investment Fund at the end of August amounted to about 13.891 billion dinars, or 38.8 percent of GDP.
