Morocco unveiled a $12 billion plan aimed at reconstruction and promoting social and economic development in areas affected by the recent earthquake in the kingdom.

The decision came after a meeting chaired by King Mohammed VI of Morocco, where the reconstruction and general rehabilitation program for the areas affected by the El Haouz earthquake aims to provide homes for about 4.2 million people in 4 provinces, represented in Marrakech, El Haouz, Taroudant, Azilal and Chichaoua.

The five-year program aims to rebuild housing and rehabilitate damaged infrastructure, in accordance with the urgent measures planned during the September 14 meeting, and on the other hand, to promote social and economic development in the targeted areas.
