Khaled Hanafi and the Head of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Khalil Haj Tawfiq, Announce in a Press Conference the Organization of the 20th Edition of the Arab Businessmen and Investors Conference in Amman

The Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Chambers, Dr. Khaled Hanafi, and the President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Khalil Haj Tawfiq, met with the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, His Excellency Ahmed Aboul Gheit, at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo. Where they discussed the ongoing arrangements for holding the 20th Conference for Arab Businessmen and Investors, under the slogan: "The First Economic Summit for the Arab Private Sector".

After the meeting, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Union of Arab Chambers, represented by the Secretary-General of the Union, Khaled Hanafi, and the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, represented by its president, Khalil Haj Tawfiq, to organize the Conference of Arab Businessmen and Investors, in partnership and cooperation with the League of Arab States.

After that, a joint press conference was held at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo, which included the Secretary General of the Union of Arab Chambers, Dr. Khaled Hanafi, and the President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Khalil Haj Tawfiq, where it was announced that the conference (20) would be organized for Arab businessmen and investors, under the slogan: "The First Economic Summit of the Arab Private Sector". The Conference will be hosted this year in the city of Amman, the capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Under the auspices of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, the Great, may God protect him, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and jointly organized by the Union of Arab Chambers, the League of Arab States, and the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, during the period 18- October 19, 2023, at the ST.REGIS Amman Hotel (The St. Regis Amman).

The conference, in its 20th edition this year, will focus on identifying the investment climate and environment and modern policies, incentives, and legislation in Jordan and the Arab countries to attract investments. During the sessions, the vision of many Arab countries for investment projects aimed at creating a diversified and sustainable economy will be reviewed.

Ministers of Economy, Investment, and Trade, concerned official authorities, leaders of chambers of commerce, industry, and agriculture in the Arab countries, joint Arab-foreign chambers, development banks, Arab financing and development funds, investment promotion agencies in the Arab countries, business owners and investors, Arab and foreign experts in the economic, financial and social fields will be invited to participate in this conference.

During his speech at the conference, Secretary-General Dr. Khaled Hanafi noted that the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan hosted the 20th session of the Arab Businessmen and Investors Conference, under the high patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II, considering that "the conference, which will be held under the slogan "The First Economic Summit for the Arab Private Sector", will witness a wide and prominent presence of business leaders in Arab countries. This will constitute an important opportunity to enhance the reality of inter-Arab investments, in addition to attracting foreign investments, as Jordan and the two countries Arab is an important ingredient to attract mega investment projects in various sectors, whether in the technological sectors, or in the sectors of energy, agriculture, renewable energy, tourism, and other vital strategic sectors".

Hanafi pointed out that "the next stage of economic cooperation between Arab countries must go beyond the concept of traditional trade and investment exchange, until it reaches the stage of strategic alliance, through the real preparation for the establishment of the customs union and the unification of standards for goods and services, which will increase the competitiveness of Arab countries and economic superiority."

For his part, the President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Khalil Haj Tawfiq, noted the importance of the Arab Businessmen and Investors Conference, which will focus on identifying the investment climate and environment, policies, incentives, and modern legislation in Jordan and the Arab countries to attract investments."

He considered that "the conference, which will include a group of senior businessmen and economic thinkers in the Arab countries, undoubtedly has a prominent role in crystallizing visions, ideas and projects that serve our goals and orientations in supporting and strengthening trade and economic relations between Arab countries, and creating an economic trade bloc among them, a goal and demand that has become more urgent than ever."

The President of the Chamber stressed, "We look forward through this conference, to the creation of Arab economic unity, which is what we need most as Arab countries that have all the elements of unity and integration, especially in light of these circumstances and changes taking place in our Arab region and the world at large."
