Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and owner of Twitter, has revealed the launch of a new artificial intelligence company, xAI, with the aim of "understanding the true nature of the universe."
The team members behind xAI are former engineers at DeepMind, OpenAI, Google Research, Microsoft Research, Twitter and Tesla, and have worked on projects including DeepMind's Thousand Code. OpenAI's GPT-3.5 chatbot, as well as GPT-4.
Musk is positioning xAI to compete with companies like OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic, which are behind leading chatbots like ChatGPT, Bard, and Claude.
