The Union of Arab Chambers, represented by its Secretary General, Dr. Khaled Hanafi, signed on the sidelines of the Arab Forum for Digital Transformation and Smart Agriculture Technology - Challenges and Opportunities, which was held on 22-2-2023, at the headquarters of the Union of Arab Chambers in Beirut, a memorandum of understanding with the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development, represented by its President, Professor Ibrahim Adam Al-Dukhiri, and Aton and its trademark registered as Green Hub, represented by its President, Mr. Ahmed Nasr.
The signing of the agreement stems from the great role played by the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development in the field of agricultural development by supporting the private sector and entrepreneurs in the agricultural field. As well as supporting emerging projects in the Arab region and Africa, in light of the need of this vital sector for further development and increased productivity. Further based on the role played by the Union of Arab Chambers in developing trade and economic relations between friendly Arab and foreign countries and thus strengthening trade, economic and cultural relations between them. In addition to the belief of the Union of Arab Chambers in the need to work on developing the capabilities and skills of Arab youth by finding mechanisms to activate their role in the development of the Arab economy. Empowering all segments of society, especially the workforce in the agricultural sector, enabling them to contribute positively to the development process in the Arab countries, and supporting and promoting self-initiatives for entrepreneurs.
Based on the desire of Aton Company and its trademark registered as Green Hub, and its previous experiences in the field of agricultural training and smart applications in the transfer of agricultural expertise and knowledge and its extensive relations in the Dutch and European market from research institutions, specialized universities, and leading companies in this field.
The three signatories to the agreement agreed on the following:
Article I:
Forming a joint working group of the three signatories to this contract in order to ensure the flow of work and integrated coordination between the parties and achieve the desired goal of the memorandum of understanding.
Article II:
The working group cooperates by studying and analyzing the current situation of agricultural cooperation between Arab, African, and European countries and identifying work priorities in preparation for developing the necessary action plan.
Article III:
The three parties develop an action plan based on the results of the study and after identifying the weaknesses that need to start working on them.
Article IV:
Identify the targeted activities for the years 2023 and 2024 by the 3 parties, which aim to achieve agricultural development in Arab and African countries, and mutual benefit between the concerned authorities, through the coordination of a joint agenda between the three parties that ensures the coverage of Arab, African and European countries for all relevant activities.
Article V:
Work to attract more specialized companies to the Arab and African markets to disseminate the experiences gained from various European entities, especially the Dutch ones.
Article VI:
Work to make the most of the available technologies in the transfer and localization of Dutch expertise to Arab and African countries by organizing training programs, workshops, scientific meetings, and joint programs in coordination with the Dutch authorities.
A cooperation agreement was also signed between the Union of Arab Chambers, represented by its Secretary General, Dr. Khaled Hanafi, and the Lebanon Center for Voluntary Work, represented by its President, Dr. Muhammad Al-Janoun.
