Inflation in Morocco increased by 6.6 percent

The High Commission for Planning in Morocco revealed that the annual consumer price index in the Kingdom increased by 6.6 percent in 2022, driven by the increase in food and transportation prices.

According to the commission, food prices increased by 11 percent, while non-food items increased by 3.9 percent. Transportation prices increased by 12.2 percent, as a result of the rise in fuel prices last year. The core consumer price index, which excludes goods subject to price volatility, rose 5.8 percent in 2022.

On a monthly basis, the index rose 0.1 percent in December after an increase of 0.4 percent in November, noting that the annual inflation rate in Morocco reached 3.2 percent in 2021.
