The General Consumer Price Index (inflation) in Jordan for the past year reached 106.79, compared to 102.46 for 2021, registering an increase of 4.23%, according to a report by the Department of Statistics.
The Department of Statistics issued its annual report on the general index of consumer prices, as it indicated that the fuel and lighting group contributed by 25.61%, transportation by 5.56%, rents by 2.61%, culture and entertainment by 9.58%, and grain and its products by 4.26%.
On a monthly level, the consumer price index for December of 2022 amounted to 108.05, compared to 103.54 for the same month of 2021, recording an increase of 4.36%. The fuel and lighting group contributed mainly to that increase by 35.96%. Rents by 5.17%, transportation by 3.77%, culture and entertainment by 10.40%, and health by 6.45%.
