Official figures issued by the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, Social and Solidarity Economy in Morocco showed that the tourism sector in the past two months attracted more visitors, about 3.2 million tourists visited Morocco during the months of June and July, 65 percent of whom visited Morocco in July alone, i.e. more than two million tourists.
The ministry noted that this is related to an exceptional tourism performance, which resulted in the recovery of 100% of the tourists coming to Morocco during June and July of the year 2019. Thus, the tourism sector has achieved a recovery during the summer season of 2022.
Tourism Minister Fatima Zahra Amour pointed out that "Morocco achieved a recovery in the number of tourist arrivals during the first six months of this year, with the entry of 3.4 million tourists."
The sector is a major source of foreign exchange for Morocco, along with exports and remittances from expatriates. Between 2017 and 2019, it contributed more than $24.3 billion.
