The Second Session of the UAE-Omani Economic Forum was held at the headquarters of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in the presence of the UAE Minister of Economy, Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Omani Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion Qais bin Muhammad Al-Yousef, Minister of State for Foreign Trade Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al-Zeyoudi, and Abdullah Al Mazrouei, President of the Federation of Emirates Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Engineer Rida bin Juma Al Saleh, along with 120 government officials, businessmen, investors, representatives of the private sector and entrepreneurs from both countries.
The President of the Union of Arab Chambers, President of the Emirates Chambers of Commerce and Industry and President of the Abu Dhabi Chamber, Abdullah Al Mazrouei, delivered a speech during the forum in which he stressed that "Emirati-Omani relations are witnessing a new phase of partnership commensurate with the depth of the joint historical relations, it draws the features of a joint commercial and industrial investment future to complement the successes that have been achieved throughout the joint history.” He explained that "the business community in the country has recorded impressive and effective successes in the development process of the UAE over the past 50 years. Benefiting from the encouraging investment environment created by the UAE government, and based on the solid foundations it established to activate investment operations in various fields. In addition to providing feasible opportunities for foreign investments that found the UAE an oasis of safety and security, where integrated infrastructures, regulatory frameworks, and the advanced base in modern technology means in the field of communication and information exchange with global contact centers and networks, all of these have positive results on the components and joints of the national economy.”
In turn, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Eng. Rida bin Juma Al Saleh, said, “The private sector in both the Sultanate and the UAE plays a vital role in economic development. It is relied upon to achieve the directions of economic diversification, which is what the Sultanate is working on through its development plans (Oman Vision 2040). Which is based on a leading role for the private sector, including finding capabilities and elements of strength to encourage local and foreign investments, especially in sectors aimed at economic diversification, which are manufacturing industries, logistics, mining, tourism and fish wealth.”
He pointed out that “the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry invites Omani and Emirati businessmen to take advantage of these opportunities and exchange experiences and knowledge, to reach the establishment of joint investment projects that contribute to the growth of the economies of the two countries.” He stressed that "the Chamber, in its capacity as a representative of the private sector in the Sultanate, will work to follow up on what is being accomplished, and will work to facilitate and overcome challenges and obstacles that may face these projects."
