The merchandise trade balance in Qatar achieved, during the month of November, a surplus of 24.5 billion riyals ($6.7 billion), recording an increase of 15.5 billion riyals, with a growth rate of 170.6% compared to the same month of the year 2020, when it jumped 3.3 billion riyals, or 15.8 percent, compared to last October.
According to the Planning and Statistics Authority, exports, which include exports of local origin and re-exports, increased by 1.6 percent to 34.3 billion riyals on an annual basis, and 13.9 percent compared to last October.
China topped the destination countries for Qatar's exports with 5.1 billion riyals, or 14.8 percent, followed by Japan with 4.5 billion riyals, or 13.1 percent, and South Korea with 10.4%, with a value of 3.6 billion riyals.
In terms of imports by major countries of origin, China took the lead last November with 1.8 billion riyals, or 18.8 percent of the total value of merchandise imports, then the United States with 11.2 percent, with a value of 1.1 billion riyals, followed by Germany with 700 million riyals, or 7.2 percent.
