The statistical summary of foreign trade during the period from January to September 2021 revealed that the deficit in the Sudanese trade balance reached 2.5 billion dollars, with total exports amounting to about 3.2 billion dollars, while imports amounted to 5.7 billion dollars.
The value of Sudanese gold exports in the nine months of this year amounted to 1.5 billion dollars, livestock 395 million dollars, sesame 339 million dollars, cotton 110 million dollars, and acacia gum 92 million dollars.
As for the value of imports, it amounted to factory goods worth 1.1 billion dollars, machinery and equipment worth 1.1 billion dollars, wheat and flour about 385 million dollars, sugar 344 million dollars, other foodstuffs about 413 million dollars and transportation about 520 million dollars.
The deficit in the trade balance increased slightly from 4 billion dollars in the past years, while Sudan must reduce the deficit, so that there is no significant increase in imports and the size of the balance deficit will not occur significantly.
