Riyadh hosts the 56th Meeting of the Federation of Chambers: The Private Sector Stimulates Gulf Integration

The Saudi capital, Riyadh, hosted the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Chambers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (56). Where the heads of the federations of the GCC Chambers discussed a number of issues related to the development of the Gulf private sector and the promotion of trade and economic cooperation among the countries of the Cooperation Council. The draft work program of the General Secretariat of the Union for the year 2022 was also reviewed, which includes many activities, most notably the joint meetings with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council with the aim of coordinating between the private sector and the Gulf government sector, and holding workshops in cooperation with member chambers to develop appropriate solutions to trade obstacles between the GCC states, in addition to participating in a number of exhibitions, forums and economic conferences at the regional level.

Emphasis was placed on the importance of strengthening economic cooperation among the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and that the Gulf private sector play its hoped role in moving the wheel of the Gulf economy, especially in light of the repercussions of Covid-19, which continues to affect the global economy, and work together to achieve Gulf economic integration. A number of pivotal issues were also discussed, including the approval of the minutes of meeting No. 55 of the Council, follow-up of its decisions, and developments in the construction of the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Federation of Chambers of the Gulf Cooperation Council. The importance of preparing for the holding of the Gulf Economic Forum, which is organized by the union once every two years, was also discussed, provided that it includes topics related to the advancement of the Gulf economy, leading to the Gulf common market.
