The Chairman of the Libyan General union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Mohamad Al Raiid, received an Emirati economic delegation headed by Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Vice President of the Federation of Emirati Chambers, the Secretary General of the Federation, Hamid Muhammad bin Salem, and the heads and managers of more than ten major Emirati companies. The delegation was received by Dr. Jamal Al-Lamoushi, Head of the Investment Promotion and Privatization Authority in Libya, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Communications Khaled Souissi, and Omar Al-Jawashi, President of the Ports Authority, in the presence of a large number of managers of Libyan companies, banks and institutions.
The UAE and Libyan sides expressed their readiness to work jointly for the sake of the two countries' interests and to increase cooperation in all commercial and investment activities.
At the end of the talks, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the GUCC and the FCCIUAE, which included a number of items, most notably:
- Supporting and encouraging the commercial & industrial activities and initiatives and the association between companies and private institutions.
- Strengthening the bilateral cooperation in all economic fields in general, and commercial and industrial fields in particular.
- Enabling the chambers of commerce in the two countries to communicate and coordinate with each other towards creating promising business companies and suitable commercial opportunities for the business sectors of the two countries.
