A report issued by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) showed that electronic commerce has achieved a remarkable recovery, in light of the restrictions imposed on movement, while the epidemic has exhausted entire sectors of the economy.

UNCTAD indicated that there were negative consequences for the health crisis on travel and car-sharing services, as there were clear difficulties for technology companies such as smart transportation services or online tourism marketing, based on the statistics of seven countries, namely Australia, Canada, China, South Korea, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States, together, they represent about two-thirds of electronic transactions for selling sites from companies to consumers directly.

Data for these countries show that online retail sales increased by 22.4 percent at the end of last year, to reach $ 2.495 trillion, compared to an increase of 15.1 percent between 2018 and 2019. The increase in online retail sales reached 59 percent in Australia, 46.7 percent in the United Kingdom, and 32.4 percent in the United States, compared to 14.6 percent in China.
