Kuwait ranked second in the Gulf and the Arab world and 29th globally in the "Draper Innovation Index", which is an international map of the most prominent emerging technology centers for entrepreneurs, investors and policy makers.
The index, which was launched by the Draper Hero Research Institute, measures the performance of 228 global economies according to 8 main indicators that include the quality of the government and the perceptions of corruption and democracy, the economic environment and the intended flow of capital, the number of new companies registered per person, the extent of the development of the stock exchange and the number of listed companies. In addition to the organizational environment, which is intended to be easy to implement business activities, economic freedom, the time required to start a business, foreign direct investments, innovation, which is intended for entrepreneurship and development, the social indicator intended for human development, venture capital, which is the annual rate of funding from venture capital, taxes (meaning the percentage of taxes imposed on companies), and the virtual environment (meaning the legislation of dealing in virtual currencies).
Bahrain ranked first in the Gulf and 22nd in the world, Saudi Arabia third and 38th in the world, the UAE fourth and 52nd in the world, Qatar 58th in the world, then Oman ranked 78th in the world. While the United States of America ranked first in the innovation index, followed by Singapore, then Hong Kong, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Poland, Iceland, then Canada and Germany tenth.
