The Assets of Qatari Banks Increased by 8.8%

The data of Qatar Central Bank showed that the volume of commercial bank assets increased by the end of last February to about 10.46 billion riyals compared to last January, with an increase of 137.5 billion riyals, and by 8.8 percent compared to February 2020, to reach the level of 1704.7 billion riyals.

According to the data, the total cash and balances with Qatar Central Bank increased in the end of February 2021 from last January by 2.66 billion riyals to reach the level of 89.3 billion riyals, and the balance was 42.6 percent higher than it was in February 2020, when it was 62.6 billion riyals. On the other hand, the report showed a decrease in bank balances abroad at the end of February by 2.66 billion riyals compared to last January to 89.4 billion riyals, while it was at the level of 75.3 billion riyals a year ago in February 2020.

As for investments abroad, they remained stable over the past year, amounting to 57.3 billion riyals in February 2021, compared to 57.8 billion riyals in January, and 58.8 billion a year ago. With regard to the balance of cash in foreign currencies, it rose slightly in February to the level of 9.27 billion riyals, compared to 9.11 billion riyals last January.
