A Training Course Organized by the Union of Arab Chambers on Entrepreneurship

The Union of Arab Chambers (UAC), in cooperation with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD), organized a four-day training course entitled “Training of Trainers for Entrepreneurs Training” (1-4 October) with participation of well recognized experts and trainers, in addition to a prominent presence of Arab chambers.

The Secretary General of the Union of Arab Chambers, Dr. Khaled Hanafi, stressed the importance of holding the seminar with the participation of very well recognized experts and academics. He commended the "Arab Chambers' participation in this training course, where entrepreneurship, entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized companies are widely considered as a vital factor in the national economic systems, especially as they create a number of jobs higher than that created by other employers. "

For his part, the President of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, Eng. Ibrahim El-Araby delivered a speech at the training course, in which he lauded the efforts being made by the Union of Arab Chambers in cooperation with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization to support entrepreneurship in the Arab world. "Supporting entrepreneurs and helping them turn their ideas into projects, which are often innovative," he said, pointing to "the need to reform education so that it can teach young people self-confidence and promote sound thinking skills."

"The culture of entrepreneurship and creativity is the key to the success of economic and social development," said Dr. Hashem Hussein, head of the Investment and Technology Promotion Office at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). Pointing out that "Entrepreneurship and creativity are key to the success of investments and economic development, as many young people have achieved inspiring success stories.” 

The Director General of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development, Prof. Ibrahim Adam El Dukheri stressed in his speech during the session, that "the development of entrepreneurship is the main way out to face economic challenges in partnership with the private sector in all Arab countries through the development of small and medium enterprises, with the aim of enhancing the capabilities and skills of youth with respect to the establishment and management of SMEs, increased employment opportunities and the development of business plans. ”

For his part, Secretary General of the Union of Arab Banks, Wissam Fattouh, said that "experience has proved in the developed world, as in some of our Arab countries, the importance of supporting entrepreneurship to face crises and economic fluctuations, advancing this sector and activating its development role in general, and its role in creating job opportunities in particular, it is a pivotal goal in the Arab countries, given its importance in combating unemployment and its contribution to relieve pressure on labor markets due to the huge number of entrants to the labor market, and its contribution to increase the industrial added value, improve the competitiveness of the productive sector, and promote innovation efforts and diversify the economic structure."

The trainers reviewed their experiences in this field, stressing the importance of mainstreaming the culture of entrepreneurship in the Arab world and supporting entrepreneurs. The reality of entrepreneurship in the Arab world was revealed, and the role of different sectors in supporting entrepreneurship was highlighted. In particular, the role of the private sector and the public sector, as well as the education and training sector and the banking sector.

Participants from the Arab chambers presented their countries' experience in developing the role of entrepreneurship, supporting entrepreneurs and training trainers to train entrepreneurs. At the end of the training session, certificates of appreciation were distributed to the participants.
