Remittances of Egyptians Working Abroad Increased 43 percent

Remittances from Egyptians working abroad reached $3 billion in May, an increase of 43 percent, compared with $2.1 billion in April, as per a statement issued by the Central Bank of Egypt.

According to the Central Bank of Egypt, Egypt received remittances worth $2.6 billion in May, which represent an important source of foreign currency for the country.

On the other hand, the data released by the same source revealed that Egypt's external debt rose 40.4 percent year-on-year at the end of March 2019 to $106.2 billion at the end of the first quarter.

The Central Bank of Egypt disclosed in its data, the rise of external debt from 88.163 billion dollars to about 96.612 billion dollars.
