The Secretary General of the Union of Arab Chambers, Dr. Khaled Hanafi, participated in the International Labor Conference at its 108th Session and in the first coordination meeting of the Arab Group held in the Boardroom at the ILO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
The meeting comes in the context of the continuous efforts of the Arab Labor Organization to support coordination and cooperation among the Arab delegations of representatives of the three production parties (governments - employers - workers) participating in the annual International Labor Conference. As well as within the framework of the implementation of the United Nations Plan 2030, its 17 goals and 169 purposes on sustainable development, and the approach adopted by the Organization in recent years to rely on electronic documentation and distance from traditional methods and to go to what is known with Green Economy and Blue Economy and their various sectors, and to be adopted as a future clean, safe and environmentally friendly.
The meeting aimed at creating consensus and a common Arab vision on the topics that fall within the interests and priorities of the Arab region and their developmental needs in the coming phase.
The meeting discussed a number of important issues, including the importance of expanding the use of the Arabic language in the ILO, supporting the Palestinian demands, especially the follow-up to the implementation of the International Labor Conference resolutions of 1974 and 1980 on the condemnation of the Israeli authorities for their arbitrary and racist practices, as well as the effects of settlement on the situation of Arab employers and workers in Palestine and other occupied Arab territories. In addition to following up the implementation of the development cooperation programs for the occupied Arab territories and the Palestinian Fund for Employment and Social Protection. The participants also addressed the developmental cooperation with the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the position towards the ratification of 1986 Amendment to the ILO Constitution on the Expansion of Representation on the ILO Governing Body.
