Ahmed Lahlimi Alami, the head of the Higher Planning Commission in Morocco, said that "the predicted growth for the current year is 2.9 percent this year, slightly lower than last year." He explained that “the growth forecast was based on the average year of the crop and the price of oil at 67 Dollar per barrel."

"Despite the exceptional crop in 2018, the economy grew 3 percent last year, down from 4.1 percent in 2017, due to a drop in non-farm activity and falling external demand," he said.

According to data from the High Commissioner for Planning, inflation will fall to 1.2 percent this year 2019, from 1.6 percent last year (2018), and the current account deficit will shrink to 4.3 percent of GDP from 4.5 percent in 2018, to 18.1 percent of GDP from 18.3 percent last year, and the budget deficit will fall from 3.9 to 3.7 percent.
