Growth of Bank Deposits with QCB

Bank deposits with Qatar Central Bank (QCB) grew during the month of October to QAR 60.2 billion, or 48.6% year-on-year.
Deposits were distributed to about QAR 36.7 billion as reserves, QAR 23.4 billion as free accounts representing a 444 percent growth due to the increase of the deposit rate twice this year by half a percentage point to 2.25 percent.
The assets of banks operating in Qatar increased during the same month to 1.384 trillion riyals by 4.9 percent compared to October of last year, while they fell by 1.4 percent on a monthly basis.
The monthly budget of banks issued by the Qatar Central Bank showed that the volume of credit declined last month by 1.1% to QAR 937.4 billion, compared to QAR 948.2 billion in September, while it rose by 3.2% year-on-year.
According to the same report, total deposits fell by 1.5 percent to 806 billion riyals, compared with 817.9 billion riyals in September, while grew by 1.5 percent compared to October 2017.
